When a shipment of books arrives at the store, they must be accurately received and shelved. Special orders must be pulled and customers notified. The Book Wizard makes this process fast and painless. After you have checked the books against the packing slip or invoice, to verify that you got what the vendor said they shipped, go to the Receiving file and enter the invoice number and date. This information is necessary for maximum credit on returns. Many vendors ship books with only a packing list, with the invoice arriving days later. The Book Wizard makes it easy to attach the invoice number and date to the books, retroactively.
The Receiving screen offers several receiving options. If you have a bar code scanner, press the F3 key, take a book from the box and scan the EAN bar code. Enter a quantity on the Item Entry screen and check if the price on the book agrees with the price on the order. If the price has changed, type in the new price and you will see this Confirmation screen. If you answer OK, the price will be changed on the SKU card in the Merchandise file, eliminating the possibility of selling the book at the wrong price. If there is a special order for the book you can set it aside and match it with a Reservation Slip that will be printed after all of the books are received.
The items that are grayed out have already been received and can be eliminated with one keystroke (F6). The entire list can be sorted by clicking on one of the column headings, i.e., Title, Author, Received, Special Order, etc. All receiving methods are illustrated in the Demo.
After the books have been received, print a shelving report that lists the sections where the computer expects the books to be shelved. Using a shelving report, will make finding the books easier after a keyword search.
The on hand quantities are updated while you are receiving the order, changing the status of the book from on order to on hand in the Merchandise file.
The user friendly interface of The Book Wizard, makes getting books out of the box and on the shelves fast, yet accurate.
